The general DTI site is worth a visit on any business related issue. Its Employment Relations area is excellent for information on employment matters and developments including rights and legislation. It lists publications available and also has excellent links to other sites. A great place to start an information search. Rating |

 TIGER (Tailored Interactive Guidance on Employment Rights) |
TIGER (Tailored Interactive Guidance on Employment Rights) is also a DTI site. At the moment it only covers two areas; Maternity Rights and National Minimum Wage, however, over the next few years the DTI say they will be expanding it to cover many other aspects of Employment Law. It is an excellent concept, basically walking you through the legal aspects of each topic. It is very good if you are new to the area. Once it covers additional areas it will be a very useful site. It is aimed at small and medium sized businesses in Yorkshire and Humberside, but a lot of the information applies to the UK as a whole. Thompson's are a law firm who produce a monthly review called "Thompson's Labour and European Law Review" (LELR) as well as a number of other publications. They are available on line and can be downloaded as Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files. Articles can be accessed by subject, case reference or individual issues. It has a lot of basic free information and you can register for a free "What's New" e-mail which highlights main developments in Employment Legislation and is issued every 3/4 weeks. You can also access information on Employment Law Solicitors and there is a Professional Area you can register at. This site is really for those looking for in-depth help and assistance with specific issues as well as those who want to know about new developments and want updating on issues. Rating |

HMSO site has full text of all legislation a lot of which is downloadable in PDF format. There is a library and excellent search facility. Information is charged for whenever applicable. The site is very good for those preparing reports or those who want background information. Rating |

The Inland Revenue site can give details on deductions and contributions required by law, minimum wage legislation and pensions. The site carries a number of downloadable publications. Once again, it is good for background information. It also carries statistics and contact information. Rating |

The Department for Work and Pensions site gives a great deal of useful guidance and information on benefits, families and children, working age and pensions and retirement. Whilst it is very specific in terms of the information it contains, if these are the areas which interest you it should be your first site on any web trawl. Rating |

The ACAS site has an area on it entitled Employment Topics. This is a very good introduction to legislation and other issues and includes Latest Developments. There is a very useful links section to Publications, Events and FAQ's. The site obviously covers rights, relations and problems between individuals and employers. This is another site that can help the personnel specialist. Rating |
